De Blasio's Approval Rating is 39%

After two months in office, Mayor Bill de Blasio's job approval rating stands at 39 percent.  That's compared to 57 percent who say he's doing a fair or poor job, according to a Wall Street Journal - NBC 4 New York - Marist poll.

"He still [has] a lot to do to convince people that he's on top of the managing of the city and literally making positive changes - that's not coming through yet to people," said Lee Miringoff, Director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion.

Ten percent believe he's doing an excellent job, while 29 percent say he's doing a good job.  Despite that, 59 percent of New Yorkers have a favorable view of the mayor while 33 percent give him an unfavorable rating.

Fifty six percent approve of his handling of the winter's snow storms and 60 percent like his emphasis on public schools.  A majority of New Yorkers also say de Blasio cares about people like them, is unifying the city and is a good leader.
